Medical Coding Specialist
The program currently offers a Level I Certificate in Medical Coding. Those who complete the certificate are eligible to apply for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings. In addition, graduates are eligible to apply to take an exam to become a certified coding associate or a certified coding specialist. Austin Community College is NOT accredited by the American Health Information Management Association.

Health Information Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree
This degree plan is designed to prepare individuals for a career as a Health Information Technicians through classroom study and a supervised clinical experience. Upon completion of the prescribed curriculum, the student is eligible to apply to take examinations for the American Health Information Management Association certification in Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT). This program will be nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
