New Degree Plan effective Fall 2015 (updated 4/29/15)

Medical Coding Specialist -- This program is being deactivated effective Fall 2015.

No new students will be accepted into this program. Students must have completed at least HITT-1301 or HITT-1305 prior to Summer 2015 to still be eligible to enroll in this certificate. Students currently in this certificate plan will have until August 2018 to complete this certificate.   Please contact the Medical Coding/Health Information Department Chair for advising into this program.

The program currently offers a Level I Certificate in Medical Coding. Those who complete the certificate are eligible to apply for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings. In addition, graduates are eligible to apply to take an exam to become a certified coding associate or a certified coding specialist. Austin Community College is NOT accredited by the American Health Information Management Association. | Certificate Plan
