Health Sciences Application Process

Admission to Austin Community College does not guarantee admission to a Health Sciences program. ALL Health Sciences program applicants must:

1. Enroll in ACC and begin taking relevant program prerequisites
2. Follow the admission steps for the Health Sciences program you prefer.
3. Collect the required documentation and/or complete all immunizations before applying for program admission.
4. Submit your program application (a criminal background check may be required)

Medical Laboratory Technology Application Steps

New students are accepted into the Medical Laboratory Technology Program in fall.

Step 1

Apply to ACC.

Step 2
Fulfill all immunization requirements (some immunizations can take six months to complete).

Step 3
Attend an Information Session. Click here for schedule.

Step 4
Finish prerequisite courses by the June 1 deadline to apply for Medical Laboratory Technology program admission. You must earn a C or better in the prerequisite classes, which are listed below:

• CHEM 1405 or 1411 - Introduction to Chemistry

Step 5
Maintain an overall grade point average of at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Step 6
Print and fill out a Medical Laboratory Technology program application. Submit your program application and immunization form to the Health Sciences Information and Advising Office no later than 5 p.m. June 1st

A current Health Data/Physical Exam Form and TB skin test will be required prior to beginning the program.

Note: To be compliant with clinical facility requirements, a mandatory criminal background check will be required prior to admission. Click here for more information  Do not submit your criminal background request until directed to do so by the program.
