Application Process

Health Sciences Application Process

Admission to Austin Community College does not guarantee admission to a Health Sciences program. ALL Health Sciences program applicants must:

  1. Enroll in ACC and begin taking relevant program prerequisites
  2. Follow the admission steps for the Health Sciences program you prefer.
  3. Collect the required documentation and/or complete all immunizations before applying for program admission.
  4. Submit your program application (a criminal background check may be required)

Medical Laboratory Technology Application Steps

New students are accepted into the Medical Laboratory Technology Program in fall.

Step 1

Apply to ACC.

Step 2
Fulfill all immunization requirements (some immunizations can take six months to complete).

Submit immunization requirements through your Certified Profile account use code UL64im.

Step 3
Complete an Information Session. Print and upload to your Certified Profile account the completion form and the Essentials Functions form using code UL69im before submitting your application to the Health Science Admissions Office. You will be contacted by a MLT Faculty Advisor within two (2) weeks to schedule an advising meeting.

Step 4

The faculty advisor will send an advising confirmation e-mail following the advising session. The student must include this document with the application packet.

Step 5

Finish prerequisite courses by the February 1 deadline to apply for Medical Laboratory Technology program admission. You must earn a C or better in the prerequisite classes, which are listed below:

  • CHEM 1305 and 1105 or CHEM 1311 and 1111
  • MLAB 1101

Step 6
Maintain an overall grade point average of at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Step 7
Print and fill out a Medical Laboratory Technology program application. Submit your program application, Essential Functions Form, Advising Confirmation E-mail, and immunization form to the Health Sciences Information and Advising Office no later than 5 p.m. February 1st

A current Health Data/Physical Exam Form and TB test will be required prior to beginning the program.

Note: To be compliant with clinical facility requirements, proof of health insurance, a mandatory criminal background check and drug screen will be required prior to admission. Click here for more information. Do not submit your criminal background request or drug screen request until directed to do so by the program.
