Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the Medical Laboratory Technology program. In order to be eligible for admission into the program, the applicant must: complete and submit an application for the MLT program, meet all requirements for admission to ACC, and meet with the Program Coordinator.
The courses in the first three semesters must be completed before starting the Medical Laboratory Courses. This includes the Phlebotomy course, which has a separate application that must be submitted. Applicants must be able to demonstrate good eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, visual acuity, communication skills, and physical and emotional health for admission. Admission is non-discriminatory in regard to race, creed, sex, age, handicap or national origin.
Because of the inherent requirements of the profession, certain minimum physical abilities are expected, including:
- Good eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity
- Good visual acuity (normal or corrected vision)
- Good communication skills
- Emotional and physical health to tolerate physically taxing and stressful workloads
