Physical Therapist Assistant
Welcome to the Physical Therapist Assistant Department

The Physical Therapist Assistant is an important member of the dynamic profession of physical therapy. Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist to rehabilitate people from injury or disease by improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing further injury. The Physical Therapist Assistant participates as a member of the healthcare team to make it possible for patients to participate in life to its fullest.

Our program is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association (1111 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314-1488; 703.684.2782; www.apta.org). The program received re-accreditation in April 2009.

PTHA 1409 - Granted petition required. Requests for Fall 2012 will be accepted starting Monday, May 21, 2012 on a first come, first serve basis. Please send request to tjohnso5@austincc.edu with subject line: "PTHA 1409 Spring Request" and the following information: Student Name, ACCID & Contact Phone number and email address. Emails sent prior to Monday, May 21, 2012 will not be considered.

Attention PTA Applicants - Whether you attend an In-Person Information Session or did the On-Line Session. Completion of the On-Line post test under the "Verification" tab is required. Print and sign the PTHA Information Session Completion form and submit it with your PTA Application.
