The Physical Therapist Assistant is an important member of the dynamic profession of physical therapy. Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist to rehabilitate people from injury or disease by improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing further injury. The Physical Therapist Assistant participates as a member of the healthcare team to make it possible for patients to participate in life to its fullest.

Our program is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association (1111 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314-1488; 703.684.2782; www.apta.org). The program received re-accreditation in April 2009.

To all PTHA 1409 completers:

If you plan to apply to the program this spring for entry in the fall please be aware of the following requirement:

Students who are offered acceptance will have to have already taken Human Physiology or be concurrently enrolled during the first semester of the PTA classes. Your acceptance will be conditional until you can demonstrate completion or enrolled and registered for a section of BIOL 2305/2102.

Early registration for fall 2010 begins May 14th. The biology classes fill up fast so please try to register early. Also keep in mind that you are not allowed to register for Human Physiology until you take and pass the chemistry assessment test.

Students must follow the posted immunization schedules. The minimum time intervals must be met. Travel or accelerated schedules are NOT acceptable for Health Sciences Students. Please review immunization page for the most recent updates!
