Welcome to the Physical Therapist Assistant Department

The Physical Therapist Assistant is an important member of the dynamic profession of physical therapy. Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist to rehabilitate people from injury or disease by improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing further injury. The Physical Therapist Assistant participates as a member of the healthcare team to make it possible for patients to participate in life to its fullest.


Our program is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association (1111 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314-1488; 703.684.2782; The program received re-accreditation in April 2009.

Department Announcements
The Summer 2014 Petitions have been granted at this time. The request form for PTHA 1409 will be posted HERE for the Fall 2014 semester, starting Monday April 21 at 9:30 am until June 27, 2014 at 5:00 pm. Please read the Information on the petition form for information on priority placement. We will accept 30 students for the Fall 2014 semester. Any additional names are added to a waitlist should there be unexpected openings for Fall 2014.

Attention PTA Applicants - Whether you attend an In-Person Information Session or did the On-Line Session. Completion of the On-Line post test under the "Verification" tab is required. Print and sign the PTHA Information Session Completion form and submit it with your PTA Application.
