About RNSG 1105:
RNSG 1105 Nursing Skills I focuses on the study of the concepts and principles essential
for demonstrating competence in the performance of nursing procedures such as medical
asepsis, personal hygiene, vital signs, specimen collection, feeding a patient. Topics include
knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal/ethical framework.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
- Describe concepts and principles that are basic to the safe performance of nursing skills
- Demonstrate competence in the performance of nursing procedures.
- Communicate clearly the English language in speaking, reading and writing during performance and evaluation of nursing procedures and simulated nurse-patient interactions.
Who is Eligible to Take this Course:
This course is designed as a pre-requisite course for those students who are eligible for
admission into the Associate Degree Nursing Program. A student must get approval
departmental approval from the Nursing Admissions Coordinator to enroll.

BIOL 2304/2101 Human Anatomy Lecture and Lab
BIOL 2420 Intro to Microbiology
MATH 1332 Mathematics
BIOL 2305/2102 Human Physiology Lecture and Lab
HPRS 2300 Pharmacology for Health Professions
When is the Course Offered:
- The nursing skills course is offered as eight-week and 12 week courses in the Fall and Spring semesters and 5 1/2 week courses during the summer sessions.
