Admission to the College
- Gain admission to Austin Community College; follow instructions/process at http://www.austincc.edu
Visit a campus advisor or counselor to determine need for ACC assessment testing.
- Associate Degree Nursing requires that the TSI status be complete or exempt.
NOTE: Admission to Austin Community College does not guarantee admission to the ADN Program

Applying to the Program
- STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE INFORMATION SESSION BEFORE REQUESTING A NURSING ADVISING SESSION. Review the Associate Degree Nursing website and complete a mandatory Information Session
- Retain and submit copy of successful completion of online post-test with application.
- Complete program required immunizations.
- Complete all 7 prerequisite courses (see degree plan for complete listing) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 for these seven courses only. We accept grades of “C” or better. My prerequisite GPA is: __________. GPA calculator (ACC makes no guarantee as to third party application reliability or accuracy)
- BIOL 2304/2101 (Anatomy), BIOL 2305/2102 (Physiology)
- BIOL 2420 Microbiology and BIOL 2305/2102 Physiology
- Must have been completed within 5 years of application deadline.
- Completion of BIOL 2304/2101 is required.
- HPRS 2300 Pharmacology for Health Professions
- You must have completed BIOL 2304/2101 Anatomy with a minimum of “C”
- You must have completed a Math course above MATD 0330 with a minimum grade of “C” or TASP/THEA Math 230 or Math Assessment (Compass 39).
- Exempt students need proof of a Math course or Assessment.
- College Math – any college level math course
- PSYC 2301 and PSYC 2314
- Health Science students may take both PSYC 2301 and PSYC 2314 during the same semester.
- Complete HESI Admission Assessment after completion (or during the last 6 weeks) of your final prerequisite semester.
- Submit ADN application during application periods only with:
- Immunization documentation
- Information Session Verification Form
- Minimum GPA of 2.7 in 7 prerequisites
- Transcripts/course description from colleges other than ACC, if applicable
- Must begin Alternate Entry program within one year of graduating from ACC, LVN program.
Selection into the Program
- New classes start each fall and spring semester.
- Competitive ranking based on GPA in prerequisites, co-requisites, HESI score. Bonus points are given to re-applicants. Ranking Formula
Please note that to be compliant with clinical facility requirements, a mandatory criminal background check will be required prior to admission to the ADN Program. As specific timelines must be met, do not do this until instructed by the program.
