New Admission Criteria for students applying to be admitted Fall 2017 or after:

  • 6 prerequisites required including A&P I and II
  • Minimum GPA 2.7
  • TEAS Test

To apply to the Surgical Technology Program, please create an account with Castle Branch (formerly Certified Profile). You will need to use code UL64im and upload your immunizations. then when you are ready to upload your documents, you will use code UL83im. Once all your documents and immunizations have been cleared (green checks), turn in your application.

Surgical technologists assist operating-room teams before, during, and after surgeries, along with other responsibilities. Graduates are eligible for work in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, or research facilities.


Our program is accredited through the Accreditation Review Committee-Surgical Technology (6 W. Dry Creek Cir., Suite 210, Littleton, CO 80120; and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs ( 25400 U.S. Highway 19 North, Suite 158, Clearwater, FL 33763; 1-727-210-2350. ;

Outcomes Assessment Exam (OAE) pass-rate for 2015-2016 was 100%.

Department Announcements
With the recent changes to the degree plan, the surgical technology program is allowing students to submit an application for the fall 2017 semester if: at a minimum, the student has completed BIOL 2401, the required MATH, and HPRS 1106 with a C or better completed the required immunizations and uploaded them to Castle Branch completed a mandatory Information Session and uploaded verification to Castle Branch The application will be reviewed; if approved, acceptance will be conditional on having BIOL 2402, BIOL 2420, and HPRS 2300 completed by the end of the summer 2017 semester. Please note that this applies only to the Fall 2017 admission cycle. For questions, contact Sherry Niven at 512-223-5882 after March 20.

All students that have not been accepted into an ACC Health Sciences program should declare Associate of Science in Pre-Health Sciences for their major. Once accepted into a program, the students major will be updated.
