New malware threat
Symantec has released a new version of computer security
software called Endpoint Protection. This is to replace Symantec Antivirus and
includes both antivirus and spyware/malware/trojan protection. In an effort to
deploy this, we need you to go to the following download site and read the
instructions prior to downloading and installing the software:
Please note: If you are running an old version of antivirus
you will have to uninstall it manually before upgrading. To find out if you
have version 9.0 or less, follow the following procedure:

If you see Symantec Endpoint listed
on the opening page you have already been updated no need to continue.
If you have Symantec Antivirus Corporate 7.x, 8.x or 9.x please go to step 2.
If you have Symantec Antivirus
Corporate 10.x, please go to step 5.
If you have a computer that has been replaced in the past year, it is
likely you have Endpoint already installed and do not need to upgrade.
Symantec Endpoint Protection would be listed in the top left corner of the
dialogue box when you click the shield and open the Symantec Endpoint
- Open Windows
control panel, click add/remove programs.
Symantec antivirus and choose uninstall.
Note: if you get a message that you must have admin rights, you will need to call
the helpdesk to request a technician.
you finish uninstalling this, reboot your computer and log back onto your
Internet Explorer and paste the following web address into the address bar:
the default installation (SetupM32.exe) if you have a PC running XP or
Vista. Do not install on a Windows 2000 operating system. The installation
is virtually invisible except for the progress bar. There will be no need
for user input.
Macintosh users will need to get the SAV.10.2.1.DMG and mount the image.
To finish the installation, please reboot your system if requested.
