The Three Tasks
In order to help the new student who is moving to Austin, you will be participating in three tasks:
You will write a letter to the newcomer about your own first experiences in Austin. What were some things that happened to you when you first came to Austin? How did you get registered at ACC and sign up for classes? Did you have any problems? How did you solve them? You will be describing several of your own experiences in a letter to the new student.
You will write a second letter offering advice to the new student. Think of things you wish you had known before. What you would recommend to a new student who is moving to Austin? Do you have suggestions about life in Austin or about attending ACC?
Finally, you will prepare an itinerary for a two-week period in which you show the new student around Austin. Where can you take the newcomer? You will work in groups for this part of the project, and each team member will be responsible for choosing and describing some interesting places to go or some fun events to participate in around Austin.
