·         describe the need for complying with HIPAA regulations

·         state the penalties associated with a breach of HIPAA regulations

·         describe the electronic data interchange, security and privacy components of HIPAA

·         define protected health information (PHI)

·         define both use and disclosure of PHI

·         define de-identified PHI

·         identify 3 major responsibilities of the student regarding HIPAA compliance

·         identify 3 major responsibilities of the faculty/staff regarding HIPAA compliance

·        identify supervisors’ uses of PHI that are prohibited under HIPAA

After viewing the HIPAA PowerPoint presentation, click the following button to respond to the
Post-Test questions. All students/faculty/staff must complete all of the questions. You will be allowed to re-take the Post-Test questions until you have answered all the items correctly. At the end of the Post-Test you will be asked to select the program/department for which you are completing this training module. When the program/department is selected, an e-mail confirmation will automatically be sent to your program/supervisor as verification that you have completed the training module.

Step 3:

Download the ACC Combined Confidentiality Form by clicking the button below and saving the file on your computer. Each student//faculty/staff must print out, review and sign all areas of this form, and return the original signed form to their program faculty (students) or supervisor (faculty/staff). You will not receive credit for completing this training module if you fail to complete this step.
