Ψ Prepare for and attend pre-test and post-test assessments
Ψ Schedule and attend a mid semester conference with the instructor
Ψ Meet deadlines completing assigned labs
Ψ Take two exams at the RVS testing center
All credited workouts must be completed at the Riverside facility, no other. Commuting is not an excuse for completing workouts or turning in assignments. If this course does not work into your schedule or convenient for your workout completion, I advise you to choose another course that will work for you. An Information form must be filled-out completely before you are allowed to workout. You may begin workouts after the health information has been turned-in and reviewed. Workouts must take place in the Riverside Gym, 1169 or Riverside weight Room, 1160. You must log-in and out with the lab assistant on duty. All workouts and records must be completed by Thursday, May 11th. You are required to take care of a withdrawal by April 24th, if you are not able to or decide not continue in this course.
Evaluation:
Workout Attendance .....50%
40 - 36 hours = 50 - 45 Points
35.5 - 32 hours = 44.5 40 Points
31.5 - 28 hours = 39.5 35.5 Points
27.5 - 26 hours = 35 30 Points
< 26 hours = 0 Points
You will not be able to pass this course without having completed the minimum of 26 workout hours and other accumulated points from assignments, exams, and fitness assessments.
Workouts must take place at the Riverside facility lasting a minimum of 20 minutes and no longer than two hours. In order to achieve a positive workout habit and avoid potential injury, no student will be allowed to count more than 2 hours of workout per day nor accumulate more than 6 hours of workout per week. Always be sure to check-in and check-out with the lab assistant or your time will not be counted. You are required to keep a daily log of exercise in the logbooks packaged with the text. Workout hours are posted on the gymnasium door and are available from my web site. Utilize streaming videos on the gym computer exercise guidelines for instruction and on how to plan your weight training and exercise program. The may also be accessed from my web site. You are REQURED to logon to Blackboard and do assignments and see your posted grades.
You will be able to track accumulated points and assignments completed in Blackboard from the Tools tab and clicking on My Grades.
NOTE: The term workout is defined as time spent enhancing fitness NOT studying, conversing, daydreaming, or using your cell phone, etc. The course relies heavily on the integrity of each student to be accurate and honest about each workout period. Although the lab assistants at the facility are not police, they do perform limited monitoring of students on site. When students are observed abusing their integrity, lab assistants will write a brief report to me upon which I will issue a warning to the student. For each subsequent observation of abuse, the student will be contacted and the final grade will dropped one letter. You are not allowed to use cells phones during timed in exercise---you be warned one time then be withdrawn on a second offense.
Written Exams ... 20%
Mid-term Exam = 10%
Take exams only at the Riverside test center by the deadline outlined in the assignments agenda. Utilize the study guides posted on Blackboard study for these exams. You can earn five points on each exam score if a complete study guide is handed-in to the lab assistant prior to testing (keep to study for the exam and turn in as you go to take the exam). Also utilize the study guide on the Profile Plus CD. See the lab assistants to review the graded exams at the gym desk (allow at least a week to have exams placed at the gym desk for reviewfor review only; you may not take the exam with you.)

Be on time or you will lose your assigned time. You'll receive workout credit for attending the pre-test and the post-test on your workout records
You are required to purchase a textbook that includes a Personal Daily Log booklet and a Profile Plus CD. When you purchase your textbook check to see that all worksheets are there; used books will be missing required assignments and photocopies of the lab forms from the text will not be accepted. If you have something missing, take the book back immediately to get one with all the assigned labs and 2005 Profile Plus CD. Identify all worksheets you hand-in with your full name. All page numbered assignments will be found in the text, worksheets can be found in Blackboard, and Profile Plus assignments are found on the CD packaged with your text and should be uploaded on your personal computer. ALL students will complete health form prior to participating in class. Those students who require modification of any specific activity or exercise need to inform the instructor as soon as possible.
Cell phones, food, gum, and soft drinks are not allowed in classrooms/workout areas.
Proper workout shoes and clothing are required.
Attendance
All students are expected to attend classes. Non-attendance will have an impact on the students grade. The specific attendance policy for this particular class is as follows:
Withdrawal
It is the students responsibility to withdraw from a course. Instructors are allowed to withdraw students but students must not rely on their instructor to withdraw them if they wish to withdraw.
Incomplete

Generally, to receive a grade of I, a student must have completed all examinations and assignments to date, be passing, and have personal circumstances that prevent course completion that occur after the deadline to withdraw with a grade of W.
College Policies
Scholastic Dishonesty: Acts prohibited by the College for which discipline may be administered include scholastic dishonesty, including but not limited to cheating on an exam or quiz, plagiarizing, and unauthorized collaboration with another in preparing outside work. Academic work submitted by students shall be the result of their thought, research or self-expression. Academic work is defined as, but not limited to tests, quizzes, whether taken electronically or on paper; projects, either individual or group; classroom presentations, and homework (Student Handbook, 2002-2003, p. 32). Penalties for scholastic dishonesty will depend upon the nature of the violation and may range from lowering a grade on one assignment to an F in the course and/or expulsion from this institution.
Academic Freedom: Each student is strongly encouraged to participate in class. In any classroom situation that includes discussion and critical thinking, there are bound to be many differing viewpoints. These differences enhance the learning experience and create an atmosphere where students and instructors alike will be encouraged to think and learn. On sensitive and volatile topics, students may sometimes disagree not only with each other but also with the instructor. It is expected that faculty and students will respect the views of others when expressed in classroom discussions. Students may achieve their course goals by more than one method.
Student Discipline: Classroom behavior should support and enhance learning. Behavior that disrupts the learning process will be dealt with appropriately, which may include having the student leave class for the rest of that day. In serious cases, disruptive behavior may lead to a student being withdrawn from the class. ACC's policy on student discipline can be found in the Student Handbook, 2002-2003, p. 32.
OSD (Office of Students with Disabilities) Statement: Each ACC campus offers support services for students with documented physical or psychological disabilities. Students with disabilities must request reasonable accommodations through the Office for Students with Disabilities on the campus where they expect to take the majority of their classes. Students are encouraged to do these three weeks before the start of the semester (Student Handbook, 2002-2003, p. 14).
Work submitted beyond 7 days past the due date will not be accepted.
Assignments may be turned in prior to deadlines for full credit.
Profile Plus CD assignments should be emailed to hirsh@austincc.edu
