America in the 1930s
A large and interesting collection of images, documentaries, essays, audio tapes and more on American culture during the 1930s. Sports, radio serials, comics, personalities and politics are all considered. 


The Living New Deal
An excellent site for histories of New Deal projects then and now. Lots of useful links to other websites, bibliographies, and films. Make sure to look at the Interactive Map to see the extent of New Deal projects. Pictures of New Deal projects in Austin can be found here and an interactive map can be found here.


American Life Histories: 1936-1940
Part of the Federal Writers Project  held in the Library of Congress.  This site includes some 2,900 documents by more than  300 writers from 24 states. "Typically 2,000-15,000 words in length, the documents consist of drafts and revisions, varying in form from narrative to dialogue to report to case history. The histories describe the informant's family education, income, occupation, political views, religion and mores, medical needs, diet and miscellaneous observations."

The 1930s: American Experience
Episodes in the PBS Series include: CCC, Dustbowl, Riding the Rails, The Great Crash,  and Hoover Dam. It takes some searching to find what you are loking for on this site, but there is a variety of interesting images, documents,  articles and more.


The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers Project
The site, maintaind by George Washingotn University,  is primarily text - transcripts of Roosevelt's speeches, newspaper columns and other writings. 


The Great Depression
A good introduction to some topics concerning the Depression Era.
The Photo Essay is worthy of particular attention.


Photogrammar
Another fascinating photography site maintatined by Yale University. The site includes a database of some 170,000 photgraphs of of America during the Depression and WWII. The interactive map allows you to view images taken from individual counties across the US.

History 2341 - Depression America, 1929-1941

ACC History Professor L. Patrick Hughes has created a useful site for his "Depression America" course. The site has lectures, essays, power point presentations, bibliographies and other links.

The Influence of Father Charles E. Coughlin
An interesting site that includes a biography, a useful bibliography, and a variety of primary sources including the transcrips of his radio broadcasts.
