Felipe Rojas-Lombardi Scholarship

Applicant must be of Hispanic/Latino origin or have lived within the Hispanic community. Applicant must submit a 500-word essay demonstrating knowledge of Hispanic/Latino cultures and cuisine and expressing career goals.

The James Beard Foundation General Scholarships

Up to 50 scholarships valued at $1,000 and $2,000 each, towards tuition at an accredited culinary school of student's choice. The amount of each scholarship will be at the discretion of the James Beard Foundation scholarship committee.

Chaine des Rotisseurs Scholarship Application- Due December 1st

The American Academy of Chefs offers ten Chaine des Rotisseurs scholarships, awarded annually on a competitive basis. Scholarships are available to exemplary students currently enrolled in a full-time two-year culinary program.

Sponsored by the Chaine des Rotisseurs and administered by The American Academy of Chefs, the scholarships provide culinary students assistance toward covering the cost of culinary programs.

Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded within The American Academy of Chefs regions this coming year. The American Academy of Chefs Scholarship Committee will make the selections and announce the recipients by February 1st of each year.

Ray and Gertrude Marshall Scholarship Fund Application-Due October 15th

 

Applicant Qualifications:

  1. Applicant must be a member in good standing of the American Culinary Federation.
  2. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited, post-secondary school of culinary arts, or other post-secondary culinary training program acceptable to the ACF.
  3. Applicant must have completed one or more full term grading periods in the program prior to the date of the scholarship application.

When to apply:
Applications are accepted at any time, but are compiled and sent to the ACF National Scholarship Committee for review on February 15, June 15 and October 15 of each year. All applications sent to the Scholarship Committee expire after review.

Criteria for Scholarship:

  1. Financial need
  2. Grade Point Average
  3. Strength of Applicant's Letter
  4. Recommendations / Commendations
  5. Work in Industry / Professional Application
  6. Discretionary

How to apply:

  1. Print and Complete the Scholarship Application in full. All information requested must be included.
  2. The applicant is responsible to ensure the legibility, accuracy and completeness of the application and its supporting documentation.
  3. Supporting documentation attached to this application must include and be in the following order:
    • Print the Financial Aid Release Form, this should be completed by the applicant's financial aid office.
    • A current transcript with GPA.
    • A brief written statement, prepared by the applicant, describing why he or she needs and should receive an ACF scholarship.
    • Letters recommendation or support, specifically for the ACF scholarship, from the local ACF Chapter, past or present employers, and educational institution officials attesting to the applicant's proficiency, dedication, aptitude, character or other attributes of interests.

General Information:
Scholarship checks are made payable jointly to the recipient and the educational institution and may be applied towards any school-based fees, tuition, or other expenses. Any unused portion of the scholarship grant, by virtue of withdrawal from the program by the recipient, shall be returned by the school to the attention of the ACF Director of Education.

Successful applicants will be required to submit an appropriate letter of thanks and a transcript or other written documentation from their educational institution indicating active enrollment status prior to issuing of the check.

Applicants who are not awarded an ACF scholarship will be notified of their standing and may reapply during successive award periods by submitting a complete new application, therefore, it is highly recommended that the applicant keep photocopies of all supporting documentation.

Austin Hotel & Motel Association- Due November 1st
Hospitality Scholarships

These scholarships are available to Hospitality majors at Austin Community College. The maximum amount of each scholarship will be $500. For application, please contact Virginia Lawrence, Program Coordinator at (512) 223-5174 or vlawrenc@austin.cc.tx.us.

The applicant must:

Be currently enrolled as an Austin Community College student in good standing and hold a GPA of at least 3.0 for all courses taken at Austin Community College within the last three years. Only courses taken at Austin Community College during the last three years will be considered in awarding the scholarship.

Have successfully completed at least one course in the Hospitality Program. Successful completion is evidenced by a grade of a C or better in each course.

Agree to maintain a grade of a C or better in the course during the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.

 

Include 300-word maximum typed essay in which you address your career goals in the Hospitality field.

 

Provide one letter of recommendation on letterhead from a school official, professor, or advisor who can discuss 1) Your current academic status, 2) Your academic achievements, 3) Personal qualities such as maturity, motivation, leadership, and commitment, and 4) Your potential for future success.

Submit completed Austin Hotel & Motel Association Hospitality Scholarship Application and all required attachments by November 1 for the Spring semester. Applications can be delivered until 5:00 p.m. on or before the application deadline. No applications will be accepted by fax. Applications should be submitted to:

$10,000 cash scholarship. The scholarship consists of a one-year apprenticeship with the team of Alain Ducasse - six (6) months in Monaco and six (6) months at Ducasse in New York City. In addition to completing The James Beard Foundation Scholarship application and submitting two letters of recommendation, applicants must:

  • Have a working knowledge of the French language
  • Be a culinary school graduate and substantiate
  • Have a minimum of two years experience in a professional kitchen and substantiate
  • Submit a minimum of a 250-word essay describing "Why I Wish to Pursue French Culinary Training"
