2011 AHLA Scholarship Award Winner

Diane Fuslier 2011 AHLA Scholarship Award Winner Diana Fuselier is a student at ACC majoring in Hospitality Management – Baccalaureate Prep. Specialization.  She has been a member of the Alpha Gamma Pi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa for several semesters, as well as being on the President’s Honor Roll every semester.  Diana works full-time as the bar manager at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel in Round Rock and also works as a front desk agent when needed.  In addition, she works part-time doing computer work as a data research analyst.  After being away from the hospitality industry for 30 years to get married and raise a family of 3 children and 3 step-children, Diana has decided to return to the industry that she is so passionate about, where she can make someone’s day just a little bit easier, and, perhaps create a smile or two.

Lindsey Heaney has had a variety of different positions: Real Estate agent, assembly, line worker, political canvasser, bar tending. The last 5 years she has
helped to open and run two local Austin cafes. Most recently was a big part of the leaders in opening the Aloft hotel (working from bottom to top....ie scrubbing the toilets to running 12 staff members in the housekeeping department) she was able to build my skills to be well rounded, understanding all aspects of operations, to eventually manage at a resort property. She genuinely enjoys exceeding expectations in customer service. Austin local for 25 years, came as an infant from New Orleans. Southern Hospitality runs in my blood. The love for the travel industry stems from my mother, she was a travel agent for 15 years with Pace travel. Lindsey come from a big family, which has thought her that sacrifice and giving back to one another is a part of life and love. She enjoys the Austin lifestyle: Barton Springs, Lake Travis, hike and bike trails, live music, festivals, community events, and the overall unique energy from which this city thrives. Lindsey is an outgoing type of person who loves meeting new people, traveling, and learning about different cultures and lifestyles. Choosing Austin Community College to advance her career has been the best decision she has ever made. The professors and staff in the hospitality
department has given her the tools, knowledge, inspiration and industry connections needed to be successful in the hospitality industry.
