Assessment & Referral
A WAP EAP Counselor will meet with you confidentially, by appointment to discuss your concerns. Your counselor will support you in determining what type of assisstance will benefit you most effectively. If it is agreed that brief counseling or coaching may be the most helpful, WAP EAP can provide those services. The EAP counseling is prepaid by ACC, and there is NO COST to the employee to participate. WAP EAP can provide up to eight sessions for individuals and up to twelve total sessions for the family per year. The year runs September through August. When additional services are warrented that extend beyond the scope of the EAP counseling, referrals are made to resources in the community. These referrals are made in conjunction with your medical plan coverage whenever possible. The EAP will continue to provide support to employees that are connected to other resources in the community. In this case, the client is encourgaged to keep in touch with the EAP counselor and use the EAP as a resource and reference for mental health services. back to top
Brief Strategic Therapy
After the initial assesment, the client and EAP counselor can agree to engage in brief strategic therapy. For ACC employees this can mean up to 8 (50 minute) sessions per year. There are times when all eight sessions may not be utilized, depending on what the goals of the sessions are and when the client has met those goals. For ACC families, a total of up to 12 visits are available annually. The sessions are scheduled by appointment and can occur in whatever manner is appropriate and that suits the client's needs and schedule. At WAP, our philosophy guides us in the work we do with our clients. We believe that personal growth is a life-long process of development and change. We respect and work with the clients' strengths and resources to support them in addressing issues that life presents from time to time. We expect that positive change will occur through the clear specification and action based on achievable treatment goals. The EAP counselor works with the client to define session goals. back to top
