ACC Leadership Awards

You have a chance to recognize someone for the extra leadership they bring to our ACC community. An employee may be nominated for any of the following:

Classified Employee of the Year Award
Professional-Technical Employee of the Year Award
Administrator of the Year Award
ACC Community Volunteer Award
Student Success Award
Servant-Leadership Award
Bright Idea Award

Nominations must be submitted by November 1, 2007.  In your nomination, please provide as many detailed examples as possible about why your nominee deserves the award. Winners will be chosen not on the number of nominations but on the content of the nomination.

We’re sorry but the deadline has now passed for Leadership Awards nominations.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Leadership Awards Committee and
will be announced November 19, 2007.

CRITERIA

Nominees for Classified Employee, Professional-Technical Employee, and Administrator of the Year awards should be those individuals who have gone above and beyond the duties listed in their job descriptions.  They may:

  • Serve as mentors to their colleagues or staff members
  • Provide assistance beyond their normal duties to aid their department or the institution as a whole
  • Volunteer to help with institution-wide projects
  • Encourage their staff or colleagues to enhance their education and/or their professional skills
  • Provide superior internal and external customer service
  • Support  the institution in a positive and optimistic manner
  • Represent the institution in a professional manner
  • Consistently seek improvement of their own skills

Nominees for the ACC Community Volunteer Award should be:

  • Those who serve the community in such a manner that their actions reflect positively not only on themselves but also on ACC as a whole. 
  • Individuals whose actions underscore the value of the community college and its employees as an integral part of the community.

Nominees for the Student Success Award should be:

  • Those whose exceptional actions have encouraged and assured success for students who faced major challenges in pursuing their educational careers. These challenges may be related to financial issues, accessibility issues, disability issues, family issues, or any other significant barriers community college students often face.

Nominees for the Servant-Leadership Award should embody the characteristics of the Servant-Leader:

  • Servant First
  • First Among Equals
  • Fully servant, fully leader
  • While serving, one is served by others
  • Maintain integrity of self
  • Use power appropriately and beneficially
  • Achieve goal of creating a more caring and just society

Nominees for the Bright Idea Award should have:

  • Developed an innovative and highly effective approach to a process or to solving a problem at ACC

Award winners will be honored at a reception and will receive the following:

  • A letter of thanks/congratulations from the President/CEO
  • Recognition at a Board of Trustees meeting
  • Recognition at ACC Holiday Party (recipients will receive two free tickets to the event)
  • A reserved parking space for one year at their campus
  • ACC Hall of Honor Plaque which will hang at Highland Business Center
  • Inclusion on ACC's Celebrating Excellence webpage
