Latest Developments

Podcasts: An educational tool?

"Technologies Affecting Communication: Part Two: Podcasts," an informative article by Matthew Thompson of the University of Central Florida offers educators a glimpse into what podcasts are and how they are being used in educational settings. The article appears in the September issue of The National Teaching and Learning Forum, an electronic newsletter available for ACC faculty and staff. The link http://www.ntlf.com/restricted/ is only effective from computers on any ACC campus.

Workshop Archives

You may have noticed that your account in the registration database looks different lately. That’s because the data contained in the database is archived at the end of each fiscal year to create a “clean slate” to work with. If you’re looking for a record of your completed FY04/05 activities, go to https://workshops.austincc.edu/ and click on the "Workshops FY05 Archive" link in the lower right-hand corner. Look for some changes to the registration database in the coming year. We’ll keep you posted.

Edward Terry

If you've ever wondered who the mystery man is behind the ACC home page, meet Edward Terry, whose three-year stint as a Web Graphics Specialist for ACC has been spent in the Public Information and College Marketing Department at HBC. As well as being a man who can skate his way through HTML and PHP, he's got great design skills, as can be seen at this website he designed.

His career history before ACC includes owning a web design company, detailing Corvettes and 3 years in the bungee-jumping business. In fact, Edward's one of the few people in the world who creates handmade bungee cords. (Sign up early to get your discount jump from the sixth floor of HBC next Friday. Calm down people, it's a joke.) If that isn't exciting enough for you, he also wakeboards, does motorsports, and creates digital art on the side. If you're up near 611--his new office--come and say hello to this Renaissance man.
