Workshop & Events Registration Database Newswoman at computer

As you may recall, employees have an extra month this year to complete their professional development requirement. Since the database has been synchronized with the fiscal year, activities completed during the month of August will count toward this fiscal year’s requirement.

The deadline for entering all completed activities will be September 15. Watch for a reminder near the end of the fiscal year.  After that deadline, the database administrator will close the database briefly to calculate and post banked hours.

Don’t forget that FAQs about the professional development requirement may be found at http://www.austincc.edu/hr/profdev/overview.php#faqs. The database is available at https://www3.austincc.edu/it/workshops and can be accessed using your ACCeID and password. If you have any questions, please call 223-7997.

Melissa Richardson

melissa richardsonProfessional Development and Evaluation Programs is rapidly changing faces these days! We welcome Melissa Richardson, who is settling into the role of Professional Development Coordinator, filling the vacancy created by Pietro John Caporusso’s retirement. Melissa’s background includes an eight-year sojourn as an English Professor at Central Texas College, serving as editor of NISOD’s online journal Hook ‘Em Up, and employment in the world of public relations.

Melissa brings to her position a rich academic background, with an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Texas State University and current work as a doctoral student in Educational Administration at UT, work she plans to complete within the next year. She has also co-authored a book called The Creative Community College: Leading Change through Innovation, published last spring by Community College Press.

And speaking of change, in her “spare time,” Melissa is getting married and becoming a new stepmom  in September. Her five-year-old son Evan seems quite excited about the changes, including the brother he will acquire—plus the new dog, Bailey. When free time returns to her life, Melissa looks forward to revving up her recreational passions -- like geocaching, hiking, and hopefully relaxing about town. Please join us in welcoming a very busy Melissa to our team!
