History of the Wellness Program
A wellness committee was formed early in 2007 to look into the possility of a wellness program at ACC. While ACC had run a wellness program from 1992-1997 on many of the campuses, it was not a college-wide program. The committee then conducted a survey in May of 2007 to assess what ACC employees were desiring a worksite wellness program. After reviewing the survey results, it was decided that the best approach would be to have a wellness team on each campus to offer programming according to the needs of that campus. The committee worked to establish goals for the 2007-2008 calendar year.

Wellness Resources at ACC
Information: ACC has an above average number of wellness resources for employees. In addition to this website, the ACC library system offers a vast portal of information regarding getting healthy. ACC faculty member Carol Hirsh created a multimedia online exercise guide which can guide you through the process of creating an exercise program and even demonstrates the proper use of exercise equipment.
Facilities: Faculty and staff have access to two ACC gyms: the Riverside gym (223-6024) and the Northridge gym (223-4814). You can find out more information about these gyms at http://www.austincc.edu/health/kine/location.php or by contacting the Health and Kinesiology Task Force Chair Jamee Stewart at 223-4784.
Classes: Employees can take fitness and nutrition classes free using a voucher, and all wellness workshops offered through Professional Development are free. You might want to enhance your wellness with some sort of restorative class, like painting, scuplture or creative writing.
Partnerships: If you are intererested in finding support with a partner or team, you might want to join a wellness team or seek out a partner on the ACC wellness discussion forum.
Massage: ACC offers hour-long massages for $25 through the Massage Intern Program.
