I first enrolled at ACC in 1986. I got married, had kids and ended up in a shelter. After being adopted by an organization that helps homeless families get back on their feet, I was able to begin classes again, and pick up where I left off. That's when I found out I had a brain tumor. My surgery was successful, and when I was well enough I enrolled a third time at ACC. Despite a mild disability, I am an honor student and will graduate in May with a teaching degree. Even though it has taken me 22 years, I will be the first female in my family to have a college degree! The best part is that I never lost a credit. Thanks, ACC. I will be transferring to UT Austin to become a certified Special Ed teacher.
