Immediately after graduating from high school, I began attending Texas State University in San Marcos. I loved everything about the school including the campus, dorms, and people. But I was, to say the least, overwhelmed by everything that comes with going to a large university and did poorly my first semster. I decided that I wasn't ready for college and withdrew. A semester later, I chose to continue my education at ACC in 2006. I was intending to use ACC as a stepping stone to return back to Texas State when I was ready. Little did I know that I would fall in love with ACC. The classes were more personable and professors actually knew my name. The courses were challenging and fun at the same time. I definitely underestimated the community college experience. I thought that once the glitz and glam were gone like NCAA sports and greek associations, college would be a bore. But I realize how wrong I was. ACC offers plenty of ways to get involved around campus and meet new people. It felt great to be noticed instead of being another face in a sea of students. Enrolling at ACC allowed me to be able to work and successfully be a student at the same time. I am happy to say that I will be returning back to Texas State in January with a transfer GPA of 3.67! I know this time around that I'll be prepared and more determined than ever to get that Bachelors. Thanks a bunch for every professor and administrator that has encouraged me to continue on.
