Commercial Music Management

music business, performance and technology

Turn your passion into a career in the music industry

Taught in the Live Music Capital of the World, ACC's Music Business, Performance and Technology Program is as diverse and dynamic as Austin itself. Artists, audio engineers, record producers, talent managers, booking agents, songwriters, and studio musicians are all vital to the creation of recorded music and live concert events. ACC offers courses in each area, plus a comprehensive Associate of Applied Science degree in Commercial Music Management. Not only are students equipped with the fundamentals of music, they also study topics critical to the business, such as web design, entertainment law, and marketing. Hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art recording studios, instructors who are active in the global music scene, guest lecturers and performers, field trips, and a highly respected internship program all combine to make this degree a great entry into the world of commercial music.

What skills can I gain?

Students build expertise in areas such as artist management, recording technology, promotion, production, music law and contracts, and songwriting and publishing.

How long will it take to get a degree?

It typically takes students at least two years to complete an associate degree, which can be the foundation for a four-year degree. Professional training in a specific topic or technology is available and is often preferred by people already working in the industry.
