Strength, structure, and security: welders shape the world around us

From skyscrapers to ships, barbecue pits to bridges, much of what you see around you comes together thanks to welders. ACC's Welding Technology Program can help you construct the framework for a steady and profitable career. Welders join construction beams and steel, build and repair pipelines, analyze damaged structures, and inspect welds to ensure industry compliance. ACC offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Code Welding, as well as certificates in Plate Welding, Pipe Welding, Inspection, and Ultrahigh Purity Piping. A marketable skills award in Inert Gas Welding is also available. Our faculty is made up of innovative leaders in the field, and our equipment is state-of-the-art. Fusing the past with the present, ACC's Welding Technology Program also includes classes in time-honored trades like metalsmithing and coppersmithing.

What skills can I gain?

Students build expertise in blueprint interpretation, layout and fabrication, plate and pipe welding, ultrasonic testing, and welding inspection (including preparation for the Certified Welding Inspector Exam). Additionally, students receive specialized training in areas such as Oxy/Fuel, Shielded Metal Arc (stick), Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG), Gas Metal Arc (MIG), and Flux-Core Arc (FCAW) welding.

How long will it take to get a degree or certificate?

Full time students typically require at least two years to complete an associate degree. Certificates take less time because they do not include general academic classes. People already working in the industry or individuals interested in entering the workforce quickly both tend to prefer the certificate programs.

Where can I work with this education?

Graduates are employed in a wide range of organizations in fields such as construction, engineering, infrastructure, semiconductor, metallurgy, oil and gas, and industrial inspection, not to mention local specialty manufacturing, welding, and machine shops.
