| Description |
This arts program will take place primarily in three locations: San Jose, Monteverde, and San Vicente. San Jose is the largest city in Costa Rica where you will learn about its rich culture and history through various museum visits. Monteverde is known as the jungle in the clouds. It is in this lush, tropical environment where you will study ceramics under the instruc-tion of Ishmael Soto. In San Vicente, you will work alongside local artisans, learning the ceramic traditions of their ances-tors, the Choretega Indians. |

ARTS 2346 Ceramics I or ARTS 2347 Ceramics II

| Pre-requisite |
There are no pre-requisites for Ceramics I.
Students wishing to take the course as Ceramics II must complete Ceramics I by the end of the spring 2011 semester. |
| Eligibility |
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program. |
| Accommodations |
Students will stay in hotels and cabanas during excursions as well as in San Jose and Monteverde. In San Vicente, students will stay with host families.

| Activities and Other Program Features |
Homestays with local families; weekend excursions to Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs and to a beach; Cloud Forest guided tour; museum visits; sailing and horseback riding excursions; local artisan workshops and more! |
Program Fee
|
$2500. Includes accommodations, most meals, two multiple-day excursions, airport pick up & drop off, museum entrance fees, local transportation, Cloud Forest guided tour, sailing& horseback riding excursion, local coordinator/guide.
Does not include ACC tuition/fees, airfare, books, some meals, and personal expenses
