Drawing in Florence/ Rome/Venice, Italy

Create amazing art of your own while being inspired by the beauty of Florence, Rome, and Venice. Receive ACC credit and experience Italy as a resident, not a tourist!

Deadline to apply: February 17th; however, applicants will be accepted first-come, first-serve, pending instructor approval. Approval will be based on an informal interview with course instructor.

Program Site: This program takes place in Florence, Rome, and Venice. Classes are on-location.

Duration: May 30-June 27, 2010:
May 30-June 13 in Florence, June 13-20 in Rome, June 20-27 in Venice.

Description: Be inspired by the architecture of Florence, the rich history of Rome and the sparkling canals of Venice as you sketch and draw before some of the world’s most famous sites.

Course and Credit:This course can be taken as Drawing II / ARTS 1317, or as Life Drawing II / ARTS 2324.
3 ACC credits.

Accommodations: In Florence, students will live in fully furnished, fully equipped apartments with other program participants. In Rome, students will stay either in apartments or hotels (TBD). In Venice, students will stay in hotels.

Rooms will be shared; private rooms may be available for an additional fee.

Activities and Other Program Features: Classes will be held on-location rather than in a classroom, in order to give students the opportunity to experience art first-hand and be inspired by their immediate surroundings. The program includes numerous visits to archaeological sites including the Collosseum, museum trips including the Ufizzi in Florence and Capitolini in Rome, visits to the San Marco, Guggenheim, Grassi, Academmia and Arte Moderna in Venice, and a tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica. Participants will benefit from the programs small instructor to student ratio. See Detailed Information Packet for more information.

Eligibility: Drawing I or Life Drawing I must be completed prior to the start of the program, unless departmental approval is obtained.

Program Fee: $2800. Includes accommodations, welcome orientation & dinner, FUA staff support & services, access to FUA library, media room & gym, cell phone rental, licensed guide on various scheduled visits, Friends of Uffizi Museum Card, Transportation between Florence, Rome, and Venice, Rome Archaeological Card, entry fees to all scheduled museum/site visits, farewell dinner, general fee

Not included: Tuition, airfare, meals, art supplies, personal expenses

Scholarships: Funding is available through the Campus Activity Board and through the Board of Trustees Study Abroad Scholarship Program
