Program Site: This program is based in Merida yet includes trips to many other sites on Mexico’s
Yucatan Peninsula.

Duration: 4 weeks during the first summer session: June 1-12 in Austin; June 13-27 in Mexico
Description: Take advantage of a unique opportunity to earn college credit as you study and travel in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. From exploring ancient Mayan ruins to benefitting from a 1:3 instructor to student ratio, you will find this program to be an invaluable experience. The program is led by ACC instructors Clint Davis, Mary Chipley, and David Brown.

Analysis of Complex society
ANTH 2373-Special Topics in Anthropology: Mesoamerican Archaeology and Anthropology
ANTH 2389-Academic Cooperative in Anthropology-Topic: Ethnographic Data Collection and Analysis.
Earn 9 ACC credits.

Accommodations: Students will stay in shared rooms in a program-approved hotel.

Activities and Other Program Features: Visits to and tours of the following sites:Merida, Acanceh, Mayapan, Puuc, Ticul, Cenotes, Uxmal, Oxkintoc, and Progresso.

Eligibility: Students must be actively seeking a degree and in good academic standing. Applicants will be interviewed by the course instructor.

Program Fee: $1800. Includes roundtrip airfare, local transportation, accommodations, museum and site entrance fees.

Does not include tuition, books and field materials, meals, or personal expenses.

Scholarships: Funding is available through the Campus Activity Board and the Board of Trustees’ Study Abroad Scholarship program.
