How to Submit Written Homework
Your
heading must include the following:
·
Your First and Last Name
·
Course Name or ID, such as MATD 0330 (or Basic Math),
MATD 0370 (or Elementary Algebra), or MATD 0390 (or Intermediate Algebra)
·
Homework Week # clearly indicated at the top of each
page (Week # is in the left column of the Weekly Schedule posted at the Handouts web page and is
also included in the right column before the homework due dates)
Each
homework assignment should be submitted complete: not half of it one day and
the rest of it later. I give the
assignment for each week a single score when I receive it and will not modify
that score later if more problems from the assignment come in. Please contact me if you are not able to
finish on time. I may give you an
extension if I know that you are working on it and have a reasonable plan to
catch up.
Each week’s homework is considered a single
assignment, and should be turned in together (not one section at a time) and
kept separate from other weeks' assignments.
It is fine to include 2 or more weeks’ assignments in the same envelope
if you are submitting homework early, but please put them in order and indicate
which week each section is for.
You will also be turning in the Review for each test,
including the final exam. These Reviews
should be completed before you take each corresponding test or final exam and
should be turned in no later than the day that you take the test or final exam.
At
the beginning of each section, clearly label the section number. In order to receive credit, do the following:
·
Work all problems in order.
·
Label each with problem number.
·
Show all your work for each problem.
·
Check all answers. Rework incorrect problems. Seek help as needed.
Written
homework is graded by completion. You
are expected to check your answers and ask me, a classmate in the Discussion
Board at http://pearsonmylab.com
(formerly http://www.coursecompass.com/, which will redirect you to the new
website), or a math tutor about any problems in which you cannot match the
answers. In order to get a perfect
score, you must:
·
Not skip any problems. Instead, get help if you are stuck or
uncertain.
·
Follow the appropriate process, and express a correct
answer using appropriate notation and units.
·
Show all of your steps on exercises.
·
Give a clear and comprehensive answer to writing
questions. Even though this is a math
class, the structure by which we understand and store information is often
verbal. Therefore, you must be able to
explain things clearly in complete sentences. J
Written
homework should be submitted to your instructor in one of the following ways:
·
In person, or put into the Pinnacle (PIN) faculty
mail drop slot on the wall by the first floor restrooms
·
By campus mail to “Janet Bickham: PIN” – go to the
mailroom at any ACC campus, and ask for help (see NOTE below)
·
By US mail – send to mailing address below, which is
also at my contact info
web page and at the top of my syllabus (see NOTE below)
·
By fax – ATTN: Janet Bickham to 512-223-8900 [cover
page must have instructor's name, total number of pages, your name, course name
or ID (see above), and week number and section number(s) of homework being
submitted]
·
Electronically – use the "Written Homework"
page in Blackboard, scan your
homework, and follow the instructions given there to attach your homework in Blackboard. Please do not attach homework to email because ACC sometimes deletes
attachments.
NOTE: Homework turned
in by mail must be sent no later than its due date, but I will allow a couple
