Important notice for students taking MATD 0330, 0370, 0390, and MATH 1314

(This is a critical notice for students taking Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated math courses)

Beginning in Fall 2009, in these four ACC courses: MATD 0330, MATD 0370, MATD 0390, and MATH 1314, we will be using the same book for the Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated classes as we use the the regular classroom classes.

MATD 0330 Basic Math Skills uses Prealgebra, 4th edition, by Blair, Tobey, and Slater.

For all of Janet Bickham's classes, access to the computer software MyMathLab is required. If you choose to buy a printed copy of the book, be sure to buy a NEW book that comes with an access code to the required computer software MyMathLab, which is required in all Distance Learning and Computer-Mediated classes and in some of the classroom classes. Purchasing that access by itself costs about $80. This is web-based software. Read here for computer system requirements.

A used copy of the book or an e-book will not include that access to MyMathLab. A new copy may or may not include access to MyMathLab. Inquire carefully before you purchase your text.

In all Distance Learning classes and Janet Bickham's Computer-Mediated classes, it doesn't matter whether you have a printed copy of the book or not. If you choose to use the electronic (online) copy of the book in the MyMathLab software, that will be fine. If you take any other classroom course, you must ask your teacher if you are required to have a printed copy of the book itself.
