1. Attend class and be on time.
2. Turn in assignments on time.
3. Turn off cell phones during class.
4. Participate in class. Read related material in the textbook before class.
5. Read the assignment before attempting to write a paper!
6. Get tutoring from the learning lab if you need it. Go to the learning lab for explanations of grammar and punctuation problems you may be having. They have exercises and computer tutorials to help you.
7. Please work with the tutors if you need extra helpnot with your brother, mother, girl friend, cousin or uncle. No matter how many English majors you know, you have to take the test at the end without their help. You need to be working with someone who will help you to know how to write better, not someone who will "correct" your work for you.
8. Do your own work. Don't have other peopleeven learning lab tutorscorrect your papers.
9. Don't ask the tutors to explain your assignments. They don't know what I've asked you to do. Please talk to me privately if you just can't understand what we have covered in class.
10. Return accepted papers to me for your folder.
11. Please talk to me about anything that is causing you problems with this course. I want you to be successful!
12. Come to my office for things you can't talk about in class and call to tell me when you have to miss class or have other problems. Please don't come to my office to get your papers or call to ask if your paper was accepted.
13. For a paper to be returned to you the next class period, it must be on my desk by the end of the previous class period. Papers turned in to my box or given to me in the hall may be delayed an extra class.
