Welcome to on-line 1301:
Go to your blackboard about 7 days before the course
begins and complete an orientation. All information will be in blackboard, but
this is a summary of the course. Read this and the link to the departmental syllabus
for 1301.
Course Description: Please read the English 1301 Course Master Syllabus at Blackboard under Syllabus and linked below. PCM Composition I is a study of the principles of composition with emphasis on language, the mechanics of writing, documentation and research, and the types of discourse. The course involves a study guide and Blackboard. You will complete the study guide assignments as specified in the weekly schedule. What you learn will come from independent study of the textbook, links provided through Blackboard, and the guidance of your instructor.
Warning: Your greatest enemies in any distance-learning course are the passage of time and its evil brother procrastination. For this course you must be totally engaged every day, even if there are no class meetings.
Grades and Grading: I will use option #1 grading as described in the departmental course master syllabus located under ÒsyllabusÓ in your Bb. All progress will posted in Blackboard.
Attendance: It is your responsibility to contact
your instructor and know your progress in this class. You must complete an
orientation as scheduled. You will be
withdrawn if you donÕt complete an orientation or contact your instructor after
the end of adds/drops for this semester. It is your responsibility to know and
attend the correct section of the course in which you are enrolled.
Lack of Progress: Students who are two assignments behind schedule may be withdrawn. For example, if paper #4 is due and on the due date you have not had papers #2 and #3 accepted, you may be withdrawn. Always contact your instructors; it is your responsibility to know your status in the course, especially before the final withdraw date.
Paper Turnover: Your
grade will be determined by how many of your essays are accepted by week #12.
Prompt turn in and turn over is essential. I will accept one assignment at a
time; you must receive a grade of Accepted before I grade the next essay. Read
the important deadlines/due dates for assignments. Do not get a bad grade
because you did not read or understand these deadlines.
You may turn in papers:
1. Through e-mail as Word document attachment. DO NOT USE DIGITAL DRP BOX
You may pick up papers:
2. Comments will be sent through e-mail a your ACC gmail account.
