Algebra Exercise 5

Problem: Write the expression for s is f = n / s2

Answer: First, multiply both sides by s2:

f X s2 = s2 X n / s2

f X s2 = n.

Now divide both sides by f:

f X s2 / f = n / f.

s2 = n / f and s = square root (n / f)

Solve the expression you derived numerically for f =7 and n=63.

s = square root (n / f) = square root (63 / 7) = square root (9) = 3.
