Writing about the Texas film industry
Three columns about the Lone Star State's film industry

Getting arrested as an extra on the set of
Richard Linklater's "The Newton Boys"
in Austin.
I’ve stepped back from column writing, but starting in 2000 I wrote columns about the Texas film industry. My column called FILM NEWS ran for 4.5 years in the Austin Chronicle. You can read my last column here and other Chronicle articles by me here. From 2005 through 2011, I penning a monthly column called SHOT IN TEXAS for the Dallas Morning News. But it all began with ON LOCATION from 2000 to 2004 in the Austin American-Statesman. Check out the last Statesman column. The column has also appeared in newspapers in other Texas cities including San Antonio, Waco and Laredo. I also occasionally write about the film industry for Variety.
A
script I cowrite, DEADLY LITTLE LIES, is making the rounds now and it looks
promising. Stay tuned.
How did I become an "expert" on film in the Lone Star State? I was a movie extra.
