About Me

I have been a Professor of Computer Information Technology at Austin Community College since September 1988. I taught adjunct until January 1990 when I became full-time. Then, I returned to adjunct again January 2013. I've had the opportunity to teach at the Pinnacle, Northridge, Rio Grande, and Cypress campuses, and before they closed, Ridgeview, Rutherford, and Oaks campuses.

My academic credentials include:

My husband and I have 4 kids (family pics). My husband is retired from Freescale; we have a daughter who is the mother to our grandson and 3 granddaughters, and married to civil engineer/developer; a son who is a financial advisor with AXA Financial Services who is married to a beautiful red head; a daughter who is the mother of our youngest grandson, married to an apps programmer, and is a talented composer and a daughter who is a planner with Stage in Houston and married to an insurance claims manager. We live on Lake Travis. Yes, we are finally empty nesters and the mortgage is paid! Getting old at least has some advantages.

I have done research regarding CIT student advising using the Internet. I teach a variety of courses for ACC. I can't decide which I like better, so I switch around a lot. (Notice the diversity of my academic background.) In the applications area, I have taught COSC 1300 Intro to Computing, and COSC 1301 Personal Computing. In programming, I have taught JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, Visual Basic.Net, Assembly, Pascal, BASIC, C/C++, COBOL, and FORTRAN. (If you want to know why some languages are spelled in all caps, take an Intro to Computing course.) I have published workbooks for Course Technology in C++ and Java. I review for a variety of publishers for programming, applications, and web course work.

Before teaching at ACC I worked as a programmer, instructed swimming, lifesaving, and CPR for my own swimming school, and served on a MUD board. Current hobbies are traveling as much as I can. I've had some exciting visits to China, Poland, the Czech Republic, Scotland, France, Italy, Germany, Luxemburg, Greece, Turkey, Russia, and Switzerland. I'm trying to visit all 50 states. Hopefully I'll get them all checked off. visited
