Professional Information

I received my B.A. in religion from Texas Christian University, and my M.A. and Ph.D. in history from the University of Texas at Austin. After teaching at Southwest Missouri State University for one year and at Southwestern University in Georgetown for eight years, I spent three years in administrative positions with the State of Texas and one year as director of a consortium composed of Austin Community College, St. Edward's University, and Huston-Tillotson College. I then returned to classroom teaching at Austin Community College where I have been a full-time history instructor for the past sixteen years.

Personal Information

I first became interested in Native American history when I gave guided tours and lectures on the Anasazi culture as a Park Ranger/Tourist Guide at Mesa Verde National Park in the summer of 1966. Since that time, in addition to researching other tribal histories and cultures, I have attended a week-long Native American Studies Program at U.C.L.A. led by prominent Native American scholars. My leisure time interests include handball, travel, computers, and gardening. I am also hooked on spy thrillers and mysteries.
