This is a page I've created primarily for selfish reasons. I am currently taking
a course on Dreamweaver 3 and have come across many helpful sites. My classmates
are also providing sites. This has led to my "favorites" folder becoming
unmanageable. What better way to organize these sites and learn web design than
by creating a page which contains these items.
Building Web Sites-Information &Tutorials
Graphic Optimization
- GifOptimizer-You can
use this only on GIF format, but it is a very cool tool. It will allow you
to view your art in several-to-many renditions, ever DECREASING the number
of colors. Sometimes, you can go very low in the number, without losing much
of the actual art. I've even noticed that as the art piece becomes more 'poster-like,'
sometimes it becomes an even more interesting piece of art!
- NetMechanic-offers image optimization
features (along with an assortment of other utilities, such as link checkers,
HTML validators, etc.) If you go to this site, click on Accelerate (or GifBot)
to get to the image optimization page. Type in a URL that contains images
you want to work on. The resulting summary will contain a list of images on
that page with file names and sizes. Click on one of the file size numbers
and it will take you to another page that contains mulitple versions of that
image, optimized to different degrees. You can see the file size and download
time for each. Right click and save the one you want and then swap it with
the one you're using. It's definitely worth checking out if you don't own
any image optimization software.

some design tips to get you thinking about the power of a little blue, a little
red, and a little green.

Browsers
- The List of Web Browsers
- Just as all colors are not "web safe", not all web pages will
appear the same on all browsers. Not everyone is using the newest browsers.
And there's even a difference in how a page will look in Microsoft Explorer
versus Netscape Navigator. You will want to test your pages on as many different
browser platforms as possible.
- Browser

controls. We offer breaking news in the browser and plug-ins industry, as
well as one of the most complete lists on development of different plug-ins
