The District IV Conference
of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations met in October. ACC's Marketing

Bellwether Award
ACC's Culinary Arts program
has been selected as nominee for the national Bellwether Award, given annually at the
Community College Futures Assembly. This award recognizes innovative and outstanding
programs in community colleges nationally.
Brian Hay is the Program
Coordinator for Culinary Arts.
C-SPAN
As part of ACC's
International Awareness Week festivities, C-SPAN came to the College on November 15 to
tape Dr. Eun Y. Kim, author of The Yin and Yang of American Culture: A Paradox. This will
be part of C-SPAN's Book TV series.
The American Association of
University Women and the International Hospitality Council of Austion sponsored Dr. Kim.
TRAN AWARD
Lori Bowman, OSD Supervisor (Office for Students With Disabilities), was awarded the TRAN
Award by the Texas Rehab Action Network (TRAN).
Each year the award is made to an individual who is not a member of TRAN but who is
recognized for maiking outstanding contributions to the mission of TRAN. Lori was
nominated by Dora Trevino, the Texas Rehabilitation Commissioner College and University
Coordinator.
FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS STAFF
Thanks go to ACC's building and grounds staff who worked hard to restore campuses affected
by winter storms (fallen trees, furniture moving, removing standing water, etc.).
TESOL
Shannon Bailey will co-present with Mary Corredor at the TESOL (Teachers of English to
Speakers of Other Languages) 2002 Convention.
VOCES AMERICANAS EXHIBIT
To mark the opening of the Voces Americanas Exhibit a reception was held on November 30 at
the Highland Business Center Lobby. Tina Buck with Instructional Resources Technology
organized the exhibit (from the Texas Council for the Humanities). The opening for the
exhibit featured book tables from UT Press and La Resistencia Bookstore. ACC sponsors are
Dr. Steve Kinslow, Executive Vice President for Academic, Student and Campus Affairs, and
Ron Brey, Associate Vice President for Instructional Resources and Technology. The exhibit
is on display in the HBC Lobby through December 20.
