Steve Rison, Cypress Creek Campus counselor and professor of psychology, attended a textbook reviewer’s conference Nov. 20-22 in San Francisco. Prentice-Hall Publishers invited Rison and seven other educators from around the country to meet with the author and editors of a human sexuality textbook scheduled for publication next year.

Dental Hygiene Associate Professor Kellie Murphree and her students participated in a special Halloween event held at the City of Austin’s after-school facility, Alamo Recreation Center. They made a presentation and distributed free toothpaste and toothbrushes to 300 children as part of the center’s “Turn Your Back on Violence and Drugs” trick-or-treat village.

The Health Sciences Division administrative staff delivered 51 potted plants in October to Lyons Gardens, a new elderly residential facility near the Eastview Campus.

ACC President Robert Aguero, Ph.D., Continuing Education Executive Dean Tom Applegate, and Cypress Creek Campus Manager Linda Haywood provided information on higher education in Cedar Park during “Education Day,” a seminar held Jan. 6 as part of Leadership Cedar Park.
 
Dr. Mary Hensley, associate vice president of instructional support services, made presentations regarding College Connection to the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 2 and to the Leander ISD Board of Trustees.

More than 400 people attended ACC’s Spring Development Day, held Jan. 7 at the Red Lion Hotel. Morning speakers were Board of Trustees Chair Barbara Mink, Ph.D., President Robert Aguero, Ph.D., Dr. Steve Kinslow, executive vice president of academic, student, and campus affairs, and Dr. Glenda Barron, assistant commissioner for the Community and Technical Colleges Division at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. About 300 people attended 22 workshops in the afternoon. Workshop presenters included:

Continuing Education Executive Dean Tom Applegate has been appointed to serve as ACC’s representative to the Texas ACT Council.
