Biology Adjunct Associate Professor Rodney Rohde co-authored “Evaluation of Oral Rabies Vaccination Programs for Control of Rabies Epizootics in Coyotes and Gray Foxes: 1995-2003.” The article is published in the September issue of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

The Balcones Center for Creative Writing, under the direction of John Herndon, co-sponsored a visit to ACC by Spike Gillespie. The Austin-based author read from her work and spoke to writing classes at the Eastview and Pinnacle Campuses.

The Student Life Office added a festive feel to the new semester with Welcome Back Bashes held on each campus between Aug. 29 and Sept. 9. The Arts and Humanities Division distributed 2005-2005 arts calendars at the bashes and encouraged students to attend ACC arts events.

English Professor Jose Flores performed Sept. 16 at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., with his band El Conjunto Aztlan. A poet, musician, and songwriter, Flores composed seven songs for Conjunto Aztlan’s latest CD, the critically acclaimed “From Aztlan with Love.”

The Texas Workforce Commission has selected Karen Duncan, Customized Training account executive, to serve on the commission’s Rural Capital Area Workforce Development Board. The board oversees design and implementation of the workforce center system in the nine-county area surrounding Travis County.
