The Tech Prep staff consisting of Sharyl Kincaid, Rebecca Francis, Minnie Camarillo, and Cecilia Padilla facilitated professional development workshops this summer for 102 high school teachers from 25 school districts. ACC faculty and staff led most workshops, which were free to the school teachers.

• Dr. Linnea Fletcher and Steven Spurlock (Biotechnology) taught a workshop for six teachers from five school districts.
• James Webb (Computer Studies) taught two separate two-day Microsoft Office Suite workshops at the Eastview Campus for 12 teachers from six districts.
• Priscilla Wicker (Visual Communication) taught a three-day Adobe’s InDesign workshop at the Northridge Campus for seven teachers from five districts.
• David Correa (Visual Communication) taught two three-day workshops at the Northridge Campus—one on web design (eight teachers from three districts) and one on Dreamweaver (10 teachers from four districts).
• Donna Pauler and Melinda Barker (Visual Communication) co-taught a three-day Photoshop beginner’s workshop at the Northridge Campus for nine teachers from six districts.
• David Tobey (Visual Communication) taught a three-day Photoshop advanced user’s workshop at the Northridge Campus for nine teachers from six districts.
• Dr. Hector Aguilar, Jesus Casas, Kurt Nalty, Ronnie Wilson, and Audrie Osio (Electronics and Advanced Technologies) taught a four-day workshop at the Riverside and Northridge campuses for four teachers from two districts.
• Tim Strouse (Welding Technology) taught a five-day workshop at Stony Point High School for 18 teachers from 10 districts.
• Terry Kotrla (Medical Laboratory Technology) taught a one-day phlebotomy workshop at the Eastview Campus for approximately 35 healthcare professionals from central and south Texas.

The ACC Jazz Ensemble, with vocalists Pam Hart and Marvin Crowe, performed at the July 2 memorial service honoring community leader August Swain.

Dr. Luanne Preston, Early College Start executive director, Linda Kluck, admissions and records director, Terry Bazan, student assistance director, and Dr. Mary Hensley, vice president of college support systems and ISD relations, gave a College Connection presentation July 27 to the Enrollment Services Efficiency Committee of the Council of University Presidents and Chancellors. Dr. Hensley also gave a College Connection presentation Aug. 21 to the Elgin ISD Board of Trustees.
