FACULTY & STAFF

The College Bridge program is under way, and already 110 incoming students have joined the skills booster program in hopes of meeting TSI requirements in time for fall classes. Nine Bridge sessions are planned, including one bilingual math session. The Student Recruitment Office has staffed a phone bank, and many staff and faculty have been involved with course design and delivery. Student Learning Services Director Sharon Frederick has provided an enormous amount of support and follow-up detail. Kudos for their patience and dedication regarding this effort go especially to Mathematics Department Chair Constance Elko and Developmental Communications Department Chair Dolores Segura.

STUDENTS

Three Visual Communication students were recently recognized for achievement in the regional ADDY awards, presented by the Austin Advertising Federation. Cathy King won a Gold ADDY for Best of Show Packaging for “Possibiliteas.” Also in the Student Design category, ACC student Allyson Lipkin was recognized with a Silver Award for her logo design, and Aaron Bates won a Silver Award for packaging design. The ADDY Awards recognize the best of all types of advertising and are the world’s largest such industry competition as well as one of the toughest.
