TESTS: There will be FOUR unit tests and a comprehensive FINAL EXAM. Each test will be worth 100 points. The four unit tests will be taken in the RVS testing center. You will have one week to take each test and scheduled dates for these tests are provided. The final exam is comprehensive and it will be taken in the classroom.

In order to receive full or partial credit you must show a reasonable amount of work. When using additional paper to complete a problem, please be neat and clear and label your work.

No test may be taken late. A missed test is a zero. However, the final exam will replace the lowest of your four unit tests.

HOMEWORK: A list homework problems, and the due dates are provided. To receive full credit, you must work all problems, and show your work. Don’t be shy about asking questions when you have difficulty with your homework. It is important that you understand the material before you move to the next lesson. Homework assignments will be checked for completeness.

QUIZZES: You will have one quiz grade for each lesson in the Academic Systems software. If your Overview Module pretest score is 95% or more, the computer will ask you if you want to use that grade as your quiz grade for the Evaluate Module. If you want to keep that grade as your Evaluate quiz score, be sure to answer "Yes." If your Overview Module pretest score is less than 95%, you should complete the lesson (in the Explain Module on the computer) as well as the practice test (in your PAN) for the lesson. Then take the quiz in the Evaluate Module on the computer. Up to three attempts are allowed on each quiz in the Evaluate Module. Each Overview pretest may be taken only once. You should not move on to the next lesson until you have scored at least 80% correct on the Evaluate quiz. Please ask for help if you need it. If you do not take a quiz, a zero will be recorded for that grade. The average of your quiz grades will count 15% of your overall grade in the course.

COURSE GRADE: The overall grade will be computed as follows:

Each unit test: 15% (total: 60%)

Final exam: 15%

Quiz average: 15%

Homework: 10%

Remember: If your lowest unit test is lower than your final exam grade, then the final exam grade will replace your lowest test grade and will also count as your final exam grade.

A: 90 - 100, B: 80 - 89, C: 70 - 79, D: 60 - 69, F: below 60.

Withdrawals "W": If you wish to withdraw from this course please let me know. You must do the necessary paperwork at the Admissions and Records office before the April 22 deadline. I reserve the right to withdraw a student with poor attendance and who has not made enough progress in the course.

Other grades: Incomplete "I" and In Progress "IP". Please read the Information for Students page for an explanation of these options.

ATTENDANCE AND BEHAVIOR: You are encouraged to attend all classes. There is a direct correlation between attendance and performance. Proper behavior is expected. Be prepared to attend each class from beginning to end. Coming to class late and leaving early disturb the instructor and your classmates. Please do not leave the classroom in the middle of the class in order to take care of personal business. Turn off your beepers and wireless phones. Dishonesty will be severely punished.
