Rio Grande Parking Garage – What You Need to Know

The new 7-story parking garage at the Rio Grande Campus provides more than 500 additional parking spaces at the corner of 12th Street and Shoal Creek. Please allow yourself ample time to park while everyone gets used to the new garage. ACC Police are on hand to assist faculty, staff, and students as they enter and exit the parking garage. A valid ACC parking permit is required and may be purchased at any campus Cashier’s Office.

After the garage became operational, the college decided to move the access gates farther into the garage to minimize traffic backup along 12th Street. Cars will also have more maneuvering room inside the garage. After the change is complete, the access gates will be activated and an ACC ID card will be required to enter and exit the garage.

The Rio Grande Campus Manager’s Office and ACC District Police are closely monitoring garage operations to determine if additional procedures need to be implemented to facilitate garage use. Questions or comments should be directed to the campus manager’s office at (512-223-3002) or ACC District Police (512-223-1231).

The best way to avoid parking problems is to employ alternative forms of transportation, efforts that will reduce ACC’s carbon footprint and promote the college’s sustainability goals. Every campus has bike racks, and ACC encourages carpooling and the use of mass transit. Additionally, all campuses now include preferred parking spots for low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles.

A: Drivers will know if the garage is full by viewing lighted signs (reading “open” or “full”) at the garage entry areas. If the garage is full, drivers will need to check for vacancies in surface parking at House Park Field or on the street.
