PARKING UPDATE
Rio Grande Campus 9/28/08
- 70+ spaces for cars and motorcycles are available.
- Open to students, faculty, and staff until spring break 2009.
Parking is limited at all campuses. ACC encourages you to explore alternative transportation options. Capital Metro now off ers expanded bus services to Rio Grande Campus.
We are aware of the parking challenges at the Rio Grande Campus, and are working diligently to provide some relief. In the meantime, we encourage anyone traveling to Rio Grande to consider riding Capital Metro or other alternatives to driving to the campus. Some of you may prefer to drive to a park-and-ride lot closer to downtown and catch the bus to the campus. Here are a few Capital Metro routes/locations to consider:
- Bus 338 from Lamar and 45th St.
- Bus 4 from Austin High School Tennis Center, 2000 Stephen F. Austin Drive
- Bus 1M from Triangle Park and Ride, 4800 Guadalupe St.
- Bus 928 Pavilion Express, from the Pavilion Park and Ride, U.S. 183 and Oak Knoll
- Bus 101, North Lamar Transit Center, N. Lamar Blvd. and U.S. 183
These bus routes offer direct service either to the Rio Grande Campus or within easy walking distance. Cost is 75 cents each way, and no transfers are required. Some, however, require additional time for walking. Please visit our new website at to find bus maps, times, and directions and other transportation-related information.
The ACC Catalog, Student Handbook, website, and campus signage indicate that parking is limited and encourage consideration of alternative transportation. The good news is a multilevel parking garage is scheduled to open in fall 2009. However, parking at Rio Grande will remain a premium, and current and future capacity is limited.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we address parking challenges resulting from regional bus route changes and record enrollment this semester.
