Important Information:
The textbook is wrapped in
cellophane and contains a cardboard with a 10-digit validation code. Do
not buy a book that is NOT wrapped in cellophane.
Do NOT open the cellophane covering the book until after you have
determined that you are in the correct course. Once the package
is opened, you may NOT return the book to the bookstore. The cellophane
has a sticker on it which reads: “STOP! DO NOT OPEN until you have
checked with your instructor.” The price of the book includes the cost
of your license for using the computer program.
You must buy the text NEW for
this course (if you have taken this course within the last 2
semesters using the Academic Systems software, you do not need to buy
the text again, but notify your instructor, so she can arrange for a
waiver of the validation code requirement).
You must save the cardboard
with the validation code. The first 2 weeks of the course you
will be able to log on without this number (Click "Remind Me Later" to
continue working without entering the validation code. You should do
this until you are absolutely sure you are in the correct class.
Approximately two weeks into the course you will need to enter this
validation number before you will be able to continue working. The
deadline for entering the validation code is
October 10, 2008.
It is recommended that you
save your receipt and cellophane
wrapper with all stickers as your proof of purchase in case you have a
problem and need to return it to the bookstore if your validation number
does not work. Problems are not anticipated, but it is a good practice
to save such proofs until you are sure that everything is fine. The
validation number is your proof that you purchased the text new and
therefore paid the license fee required to use the software. The
license you purchase is good for one year. Used books are not
acceptable for this course – their validation number is no longer
valid.
You must purchase a NEW book
from an official ACC bookstore. These official ACC bookstores
are located on every major campus, except Rio Grande; the Rio Grande
bookstore is located at 817 W. 12th Street. If you cannot
get to an ACC Bookstore, you may call them at (512) 474-2607 and have
them ship a book to you. For more information
about how to turn in homework, please refer to the
First Day Handout.
