The new clutch is in and it is much better. When the old (aka the new parts Texas Jam installed) parts were taken off, there was grease splattered on the disc and gobs of grease all over the shaft. Not good.

05.03.2000
Still no word from Texas Jam. If you are following the story, you will see that I am having to replace the clutch components also. That brings the aftermath of the original install to replacing everything except the quadrant (which had to be reinstalled).

04.18.2000
I feel that Texas Jam has blown me off. I am no longer "holding off" on posting the webpage detailing my experience. Here it is: Bunk Clutch Install.

04.03.2000
I have contacted Texas Jam about their faux paux and am awaiting a response. I am holding off on posting the webpage, while I give them a chance to make ammends.

03.30.2000
It turns out that Texas Jam did indeed give me a bunk install. I will be putting together a webpage in the next couple of days with greater detail, once I have tracked down all of the residual damage.

03.27.2000
I have put about 650 miles on the new clutch combo since I got it. New problems popped up 300 miles after the install and have just gotten worse since. I found a very knowledgable/skilled shop locally (Austin) that is helping me fix the bunk install. They gave me a temporary fix over the weekend so that I could drive around until they can get me back into the shop for the real fix. Hopefully, by the end of the week, all will be better. I plan to post again after this is resolved.

Yes indeed, there is a clutch job in my future. Wednesday (03.08.2000) I am scheduled at Texas Jam Racing to have my clutch replaced/upgraded and an adjustable clutch quadrant and cable installed. I am getting the Motorsport HD pressure plate; McLeod dual friction clutch disc; Timken throwout bearing; FMS (Ford Motorsport) adjustable clutch quadrant and cable.

01.04.2000
It looks like there may be a clutch job in my near future. I will most likely get a Motorsport HD pressure plate and a Centerforce Dual Friction disc.

There is a furry, four-legged, cohabitant at my house now. I adopted a one (or two) year old, male, silver tabby, American Shorthair cat about five weeks ago. He has a big head and is a sizeable cat. His name is Socrates.

a big cat did eat flowers green. his indecision just kept leaving mice nervous, over possible quarries remaining still tangibly undecided. vets worried. xerox yelled zoology.

CounterStrike (a Half-Life mod) is cool, and quite addictive.

08.07.1999
I shutoff the cablemodem service on 08.05.1999. I had to take the cablemodem back to Time Warner and drop it off at their service desk. So, I will not be able to post emperical data comparing it with ADSL.

08.02.1999
The Scatterbrain CD arrived today. I may have to shut off my cablemodem without doing the side-by-side comparison. I have just been too busy lately, and have not had a chance to get around to it.

07.26.1999
For the past week or two, I have been searching for some Scatterbrain albums. Man, they are hard to find! I did manage to find Mundus Intellectualis at TowerRecords.com. Needless to say, I have ordered it and it should be here by the end of the week.

07.24.1999
I got my DSL line installed. At first impression, it seemed a bit slower than the cablemodem. But, after a little digging and a lot of pinging (and traceroutes), the DSL is faster for the majority of sites. It also appears that the DSL will be a lot more consistent. That, of course, makes sense, considering that the cablemodem is broadband. I plan to post some emperical data in the near future, before I turn off the cablemodem service.

The Alpha heatsink is in transit. I should have it by 07.28.1999.

07.12.1999
I did manage to get moved.
I have not yet recieved my "super cooler" (for the overclock).
The Q2 DLL source code is a hideous mess.

07.05.1999
It has been two months since I've posted a "news" entry. I've been pretty busy. My current "extracurricular" activities include:
  • moving
  • Celeron 366a Overclock to 550 or 605
  • Q2 mod programming

05.04.1999
I got the Mustang!

(Oops, I'm a day late posting the story. What can I say? I was too busy driving).

The full story is a bit lengthy, so I have given it its own page.

05.02.1999
I'm very near to getting a 1996 Mustang GT. However this endeavor turns out, it is quite a story. I will provide more details tommorow, once I know how this story ends.

04.28.1999
About a month ago, I expressed the desire to turn a Mustang GT into a Roush Stage III Mustang. That plan has changed. If I get a GT, instead of a Cobra, I am going to modify it to my tastes rather than follow someone else's package. I plan to take bits and pieces from different packages, as well as an assortment of Ford Motorsport parts.

Roush's signature side exhaust is what initially atracted me to the Roush package. I have since learned that I most likely will not be able to use side exhausts. You see, I plan to add subframe connectors and lower the car. The subframes push the exhaust down a bit, and then when the car gets lowered the pipes start scraping. (I'm referring to a "sport lowering" -- I do NOT want to "slam" my car).

(There is a quick wish list in the "projects" section.)

04.14.1999
I just figured that it was time for an update. I revamped the links page a little bit. Regarding Mustangs, there is a difference between the '95 and '96 GTs. The '96 uses the "new" 4.6L Modular engine, and has better suspension. In the long-run, I feel the modular engine has more potential than the 5.0L pushrod engine. Hence, my decision to keep waiting. (I am still lacking in "free-time".)

03.29.1999
I almost drove home a 1995 Mustang GT this past weekend, but I changed my mind. I decided that I was settling too much. What I am really looking for is a '96 Mustang Cobra (preferably a Mystic). I am willing to settle for a fully loaded '96 Mustang GT. (It's a price/insurance thing.) If I do end up with a GT, I plan to turn it into a Roush Stage III Mustang, as time and money allows.

03.08.1999
This site is gonna see some downtime, until I can automate it with some CGIs.
It's just getting a bit too tedious to keep all the pages updated (without frames).

Cooling Overkill.
Possibly coming soon to this webpage, near you.
