COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an introductory course in Applied Psychology involving fieldwork. It is designed to acquaint students with the various types of careers in Psychology and Mental Health. Students will be required to attend seminar sessions and complete 50 clock hours of fieldwork. The student is responsible for providing transportation, insurance, and other expenses.
PURPOSE OF COURSE:
The purpose of this course in psychology is to introduce students to the actual fieldwork in mental health that is related to their career goals. This is a highly individualized class that is structured to meet the individual educational and career related needs of each student.
COMMON COURSE OBJECTIVES/ STUDENT OUTCOMES :
The common course objectives or goals include the following:
The student will be able to outline a variety of career opportunities in the area of psychology and/or mental health related to their career interests, as well as some principles in the area of applied psychology.
The student will be able to log and keep a journal of their required 50 clock hours of fieldwork.
The student will be able to apply psychological theories and /or concepts to real-life situations, especially in the area of their career goals and fieldwork.
