ACC gets new business scholarship

A new scholarship bearing the name of one of the co-founders of accounting firm Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP will help support students studying business at Austin Community College.

The Earl Maxwell Endowed Scholarship will aid outstanding students entering the business field through ACC’s Business Studies Division. The Austin Community College Foundation is facilitating the endowment with funding from Maxwell Locke.

Maxwell was the founding leading partner of Maxwell Locke until his retirement in October 2007. He also helped found the ACC Foundation, serving on its board for nearly a decade.

“Earl’s early and ongoing support of the Austin Community College Foundation has done so much to shape our vision of expanding access to higher education and training throughout the Austin Community College District,” says David Bender, chief financial officer of Maxwell Locke and a current foundation board member.

The new scholarship helps the foundation continue efforts to increase scholarship opportunities for ACC students. This year, the foundation awarded $365,000 in scholarships to 275 students.
