CASE STUDIES

It is not enough to learn to perform procedures, identify cells and memorize normal values. The role of the MLT is to analyze and evaluate the results obtained and tie them to the clinical significance. A patient has a normal WBC count but the peripheral smear is loaded with a large number of abnormal WBCs. Was the slide made from the correct sample? Was the correct sample run through the analyzer?
