Unit 13 Objectives: Specimen Collections for Forensic Toxicology,
Workplace Testing, Sports Medicine
- State the role of the collector for ensuring the integrity of drug
and forensic testing.
- Define the following terms: Toxicology, Forensic Specimens, Chain
of custody.
- Describe the “chain of custody”procedure.
- State the governmental agency responsible for monitoring work place
drug testing.
- List 4 instances in which drug testing in the workplace or sports
medicine may be performed.
- List the 4 minimum requirements that specimen collections sites
must meet to ensure specimen integrity.
- List 4 security measures which must be enforced to ensure specimen
integrity.
- List the procedures involved in obtaining the samples for drug
and alcohol testing, especially in ensuring sample integrity.
- List 4 substances which may be added to samples which may interfere
with testing.
- List 2 methods which may be utilized to detect sample tampering.
