Unit 13 Objectives: Specimen Collections for Forensic Toxicology, Workplace Testing, Sports Medicine

  1. State the role of the collector for ensuring the integrity of drug and forensic testing.
  2. Define the following terms: Toxicology, Forensic Specimens, Chain of custody.
  3. Describe the “chain of custody”procedure.
  4. State the governmental agency responsible for monitoring work place drug testing.
  5. List 4 instances in which drug testing in the workplace or sports medicine may be performed.
  6. List the 4 minimum requirements that specimen collections sites must meet to ensure specimen integrity.
  7. List 4 security measures which must be enforced to ensure specimen integrity.
  8. List the procedures involved in obtaining the samples for drug and alcohol testing, especially in ensuring sample integrity.
  9. List 4 substances which may be added to samples which may interfere with testing.
  10. List 2 methods which may be utilized to detect sample tampering.
