Unit 2 Objectives: Basic Anatomy and Physiology of Organs Systems

Define “anatomy” and “physiology”.
- Describe the frontal, sagittal and transverse body planes.
- Define the following body directional terms: anterior, proximal, posterior,
distal, medial, superior, lateral, inferior.
- Describe the following body cavities: cranial, thoracic, spinal, abdominal,
ventral, pelvic.
- Define “body system” and how systems work together to
maintain “homeostasis”.
- Describe the structural organization of the human body.
- List and describe the 10 organ body systems
- State 2 lab tests ordered to aid in the diagnosis of problems associated
with each of the 10 body systems.
- Define metabolism, catabolism and anabolism.
