Unit 2 Objectives: Basic Anatomy and Physiology of Organs Systems

  1. Define “anatomy” and “physiology”.
  2. Describe the frontal, sagittal and transverse body planes.
  3. Define the following body directional terms: anterior, proximal, posterior, distal, medial, superior, lateral, inferior.
  4. Describe the following body cavities: cranial, thoracic, spinal, abdominal, ventral, pelvic.
  5. Define “body system” and how systems work together to maintain “homeostasis”.
  6. Describe the structural organization of the human body.
  7. List and describe the 10 organ body systems
  8. State 2 lab tests ordered to aid in the diagnosis of problems associated with each of the 10 body systems.
  9. Define metabolism, catabolism and anabolism.
